Fihavanana is a Malagasy word embodying the concepts of friendship, community and togetherness. It is more than just a relationship. Fihavanana comes from the belief that how we treat others will eventually be reflected back to us.
Camp Fihavanana works to incorporate the warmth of fihavanana in every activity, communication and interaction we have.
The community we create at Camp Fihavanana empowers our volunteers, staff, and the Malagasy students we serve to create social change in their own schools and groups, creating ever-growing potential. As our camp counselors set examples of integrity, determination and compassion and create a network of support for the students, the students also build trust between themselves, gaining confidence and working as a team.
